Teaching and editorial history

A contemporary artist bridging traditional painting techniques and incorporating emerging media, he studied Mischtechnik with Ernst Fuchs and was a founding faculty member and teacher at the Vienna Academy of Visionary Art. He has mentored several hundred artists.

An experienced public speaker and educator, Mirante lectures on shamanism, visionary and sacred art, creative process, and the cultural history and future of immersive experience.

Projects and talks

Mirante is the author and creator of Oblatio – A World in Crisis & Healing, part of the evolving mythological universe Tales of Alibraria. Drawing upon comparative mythology, sacred cosmologies and ecological imagination, the project explores the relationships between civilisation, nature, spiritual transformation and the restoration of a fractured world. Conceived as an expansive transmedia undertaking, Oblatio brings together literary fiction, traditional painting, moving image, world-building and immersive virtual reality, translating an original mythology into a series of interconnected artistic experiences.

His creative practice extends into the design of cyberdelic environments combining virtual reality, generative imagery, spatial storytelling and mythological symbolism. His presentation Oblatio – Expanding Mythic Media into Immersion at the Cyberdelic Summit exemplifies the convergence of his literary, pictorial and technological interests.
